W124 internal wiring - driver's floor
Do the wires go through the area where we lay our feet?

If you are asking if those wires should be there as they appear in the photo, I would say no. That looks like some sort of poor aftermarket installation.
The carpet inlay will cause the wires to chafe on the sheet metal.

Looks like the wiring I found in my 400E which was definitely aftermarket.
Mine was wiring for a third party cell phone instalation, hands free, etc. I also removed a second alarm / possible remote starter. Pain in the but to figure out what is what and what was added. In general if you see bare wires like those shown you are dealing with somthing hacked in by a third party. factory stuff has neat wiring harnesses that are wrapped. Good luck Paul |

I am not sure at wich stage of the repair the photo was taken.
The photo below shows the red and orange wires lie differently. My car has sign of four srew drivers on the right side of the center console. Probably, the previous owner had aftermarket cell phone installed.

Can it be related to the problem described
here (click) in other thread on this forum ? It also shows red and orange wires.
