My 1976 230's Stromberg 175 CD has been an utter nightmare. I have rebuilt it once, had it adjusted several times, and still, it does not run properly. (Smoke on start up, hot or cold)

My mechanic suggested that instead of spending more money on this troublesome carb, try and get a new or used Weber carb to replace it.

Just wondering if any of you have had a similar experience and could shed some light on this subject.

Thanks,

AARON ROCHARD

I've seen them, might even have a manifold for one, but if you wish to change things, I would recommend finding a manifold off a 68 220/8. This has two single barrel solex carbs and is bullet-proof.

The Weber carbs are very reliable once installed and set up properly. I have one on my BMW 2002, and it works flawlessly and delivers 29 mpg on the highway.

Sounds great. the guy in Kentucky had some Solex carbs, but no Webers. I understand that with the Weber carb, you also get more power. Something I could desperately use on my "Teutonic Turtle"

Just got the opportunity to buy a Stromberg 175 CD2 (I believe it's the newer model), already rebuilt. Just wondering if anyone knows if its compatible or not, and whether it's worth it ?

Thanks,

AARON
