Lifting a w126

I tried the search button. but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I would like to know whats the proper way to lift my car, a w126 chassis SEL sedan. I have a carport in the back of the house and the concrete is leveled. What sort of equipement would I need to lift the car... say, 2 ft? so I could go under and do inspections and repairs if needed? I am essentially messing with a large S-class mercedes, and am afraid that if I don't lift it properly, I am risking my life by going underneath. Thats why I am asking for proper ways and equipment to do this. Thanks in advance.
