87420 shocks

I've heard various stories regarding Bilsteins on older 420s. Some say never need to change them...Others say they will wear out after time....Which I believe is true......My 420 has 205,000 miles. I have a minor creek when going over small parking lot speed bumps on front end...could this be a case to replace the shocks???

200K miles is a long life for original shocks. The creak is more likely worn guide rod mount bushings, though. I mean the bushings around the bolts that go up into the frame.

CREAK

Also, you might have the ball joints checked. In design, with age they will allow moisture or rain to get into the actual joint and cause rust. My 300se had the same type creak when going over the bumps and it turned out to be the ball joints. They are not real expensive. The joint is about $25 and at the shop here, I got it replaced with labor for $100.
