type of engine
First off, I work in the Republic of Georgia. My vehicle is at home. I need to order some parts. No one at home knows what to look for on the car.
The serial # is: WDBDA28DXMF762092 It's A 1991 Mercedes Benz with a 2.3 Automatic Is it an 8 valve or 16 valve engine? Does anyone have the breakdown of the serial number? Thank you very much. |

Thank you.
The only thing that is wrong, or they may have changed the engine, is that it burns unleaded gasoline. You couldn't tell me by chance if it is an 8 valve or 16 valve, could you? |

I believe the engine should be the 102.985, 8V. The engine number is stamped on the block, under the intake side. |

It would be a very distinctive 190E 2.3-16 or a very rare in the US 190E 2.5-16 to have 16 valves.

Thank you both for the info.
Have either of you replaced the light in the gear shift selector? Also the blower switch for the a/c heater stays on high no matter where you position it. Any ideas on this? |

The 16V has a rectangular air filter box, the 8V has a round or oblong one.
