My 1989 300ce was stored for over a year and now it has a hesitation problem. It comes and goes. Usually it happens at take off. Today,I put in some Liqui Moly Ventil Sauber (valve clean). Then I ran Liqui Moly Engine Flush and changed the oil . I used Liqui Moly MoS2 10W40 oil and afterwards removed the resistor next to the master cylinder, Mercedes part # 000 540 24 81. I'm also going to change the spark plugs and air filter next. Anyone ever experience this problem?

I am going to change the spark plugs today. I am not sure which plugs to get though. I started a thread on this matter and member "Nautilus" says that on the plate in the engine bay are specified H8DC. My parts supplier says:
1. H 9DC - I think this one is Bosch Super 2. H9DC0- I think this one is the OEM So now I am not sure which ones to buy. |

The number in the spark plug is the heat range - a higher number is a "colder" plug. The science of changing plug heat ranges to affect performance and/or cooling is kinda voodoo... (At least my understanding is on about the same level as voodoo...)
What I do know is that the difference between one heat range (changing from 8 to 9 or 9 to 8 or ?) is minimal - you should not worry about running a 9 if it calls for an 8 (or a 10)... -David 92 500sel 500cc Superbike (not for street use...) |
