1988 190E 2.3 over voltage protection relay

I need to check my OVP, can someone tell me where it is located and if's an item I can swap out? I have a second 190E for parts. Tinker recommended to check it due to my hard starting problem.

Also, is the vacuum motor under the rear seat and if so how do you acces it? And is it an item that can be swapped out?

Thanks,

Ken

Don't know about the vacuum motor, but the OVP is definitely something you can swap out yourself.

Look in the engine compartment, passenger's side, next to the battery. The OVP is about 2 inches square and will have 1 or 2 fuses under a clear plastic cover.

Just like Chamorro described. It is exactly there. Remove the black platic cover that protects everything there behind the battery and you will see it.

Found the OVP, Got a new problem

Hey Thanks Chamorro and lino.

I found it exactly where you said it would be, the fuse was blown, so I replaced it hoping that the car would start better, but instead the idle went way high especially in reverse and park. Pulled the fuse out, disabling the unit and the idle went back down to normal. Does this mean the OVP itself has gone bad??
