Have a friend with a 92 300SEL who is trying to put new speakers in his front doors in the factory place. He has tried getting the panel off, and can get the whole thing completely llos and ready to come off, but he can't get the door handle itself.

How do you get the door handle portion of the panel disengaged so you an remove the panel.

Is there a clip be hind it? or does it detach form the panel itself?

He has the door at the point where it is basically only attached at the door handle.

Any help and or diagrams would be appreciated.

I'm thinking that there might be a plastic cover that hides a screw in the handle area. or does the whole black surround just pop out somehow? do I have to pull it forward or something?

Thanks for the help.

Alon

The wood comes off with two flip levers you have to get loose. Then there is a 10m screw behind there.

Thanks for the info benzmac, I knew that somebody here would know, and from all the posts I have read so far, you seem to be one who I can rely on when I have technical questions.

Thanks for your help, my friend will be pleased, as he didn't want to end up breaking it by taking apart the door handle itself. hehe I can just imagine the springs wold go flying if he did it that way ehhe.

Thanks again,
Alon

Ashman,
After flipping the two flippers behind the wood panel, there is a screw at the bottom of the handle that goes straight in and a second below the top of the handle angling up. The door handle stays attached to the door panel and has a link rod going from it back to the latch mechanism. Hint, lower the door glass before trying to remove the panel as it makes it easier...less bind at an angle. There are also two screws under the storge compartment door at the rear of the panel.

Good luck, just had mine off last week replacing the door glass that some $hi+ kids broke with a BB gun.($410 list)

Its not hard you use the UBB Code, found here: http://www.peachparts.com/ubb/ubbcode.html

There is a tag line called the IMG Tag. Similar to the way html works, only its UBB code.

for example of UBB code you do a
[url] http://your website/image.jpg [/img]

Just remember to not put any spaces inbetween the brackets at all. i only put spaces so it would show you the code.

Hope that helps, if not when you go to post, look tot he left of the message text field you will see a link for the UBB code explanation.

I attached mine into my signature in my profile, so I can select to show the signature when I post the message. The end result is of course what ya see.
