'93 190E 2.3 fast idle problem

Car running fine one day, next morning starts fine but idles at 2,000 rpm and surges to 2,800 rpm. Just pulses from 2K up to 2.8K rpm continuously. If you kick it well above 3.5K rpm it still won't idle below 2K rpm and continues pulsating. Car has 130K miles was running fine. Nothing obvious going on with the throttle linkage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

If this is a sudden occurence, with no return to normal idle, most likely exlanation by far is a ruptured 'vacuum' line, or air plumbing in the idle control circuit. Next down the list would be an ICV frozen open.

Thanks!! Yes, it was VERY sudden and the idle won't now go below 2K rpm. I did do a search before posting and did check the fuse on the overvoltage protection relay which is OK. Will start with the vacuum lines . . .
