I have the AT out of my 83-300D and I looked for a trans number. The only numbers that I found are on the drivers side of the trans. They are 126 271 1501 and 2369 over 12. Are those the trans number? I thought that I was looking for a number like 722.3 or 722.4. Can anyone help?

The trans type is 722.3, and for the US 1983 300DT it should be 722.315. The latest MB part number is 123-270-79-01-88(rebuilt).

Thank you for the info, MBDoc. Do you know if that 722-3 number is stamped on the trans' anywhere?

Trans ID numbers are a questionable item as MB has changed them many times. Not all 722.3 have it stamped into case. Also many rebuilders use cases from different models & gring the original #s off, Even MB does this on their rebuilts.
