90 300e Won't Start Fuel Filter

Please help:

My car won't start. Fuel pump running ( hear & feel sound), fuel relay (MAS) is working, OVP working. Replaced fuel accumulator. Fuel delivery is verified upto inlet of distributor & outlet of fuel regulator.

Starts & runs under load after I poured few ounces of fuel in fuel intake and crank at least two times. Noticed, the rpm swings before it starts.

Question: Can fuel filter cause this problem? Anything else I should checked?

Can you get ahold of a fuel pressure gauge? Insufficient pressure can also cause problems.

Can't imagine a fuel filter being so clogged that you can't start the car, but it is possible...

G-Benz,

Thanks for your reply. Regarding fuel filter, I agree with you. If it is clogged, the engine should run in hesitation. But, once the fuel is added in intake, it runs perfect.

I will try to find a pressure gauge & connect in line before the distributor. Will keep you posted.

In the meantime if you can think of anything else I should check, let me know.

by saying that you poured in into the fuel intake, do you mean the air intake? Did you just pour it on the flap or hold it open? My 420 won't start and I would like to try somthing like that.
Thanks
David

WANT 71

I poured just few ounces in air intake, not fuel intake. Sorry about that. Just pushed the flapper slightly so that all fuel goes inside.

FOR JH

JH,

I read the article, but it does not talk about my problem. My problem is that the car runs without any hesitation at least in two try if I pour some gas in air intake, but when I turn it -off & try to restart, it won't. It just cranks. Can it be fuel filter- although the engine runs without any hesitation or any symptoms of clogged filter?

Any advice?
