How much freon does my system hold?

Just ordered a UV dye injection system to find the leak in my A/C system. When leak is found, i will evacuate, fix leak, vacuum and recharge. My questions are.1.How much freon does this system hold? 2.How long should i run system after injecting dye? 3.How long should system be under a vacuum? And finally what should the preasures be [approx.] This sounds all so easy, but not knowing where the leak is, when i find it i will be back on this forum. Thanks

There should be a sticker under the hood, probably on the core support that indicates the exact refrigerant quantity for your car. Failing that, there is a lookup table available from one of the vendors that is linked through www.aircondition.com.

Once you have the system tight and the vac pump running, you should evacuate as long as practical. If it is quite warm when you are doing this evacuation, the moisture will boil out more easily, thus taking less time. If you can evacuate overnight without your pump overheating or other woes, that would be great. In a pinch, you shouldn't evacuate a system that has been opened for less than an hour at a minimum.

Good luck,

Thanks Larry: I know where the low side is but i have a hex type nut on the right side of the sight glass, but it looks like it does not want to be touched. There is a valve on the compressor and another one on the drivers side of the large cond. fan. I don't know which one is the high side. I tried to connect my guages[red high side] to the valve on the compressor but the leak proof hose fitting is too big.
