Does anybody have experience with the use of BioDiesel Fuel in mid 80's Mercedes, esp '84 300SD type engines (mine). I understand that this type of fuel is common in Europe. I have heard that a 20/80 bio/normal is ok in "anything". Any experience with higher blends would be helpful.
If only fuel lines were in question I would have no problem changing those. My biggest concern is what rubber or other non compatible components might be hidden in EXPENSIVE places like the injector pump. |

When I was in Germany , I saw diesel buses with signs that said " I burn clean with rapeseed oil". Of course rapeseed oil is canola oil. Wonder if the exhaust would smell like fried chicken ?

A college in Sarasota was reported to have worked on making biodiesel. They used oil from fastfood restaurant fryers. The exhaust supposedly smelled like french fries! I can see it now... "Scented Biodiesel Sold Here!" "choose from french-fries, chicken, or steak" Next thing you know, you'll be able to buy fish scent concentrate, and play tricks on your biodiesel burning friends. -Larry |
