Must Have

guys i'm posting this here because i want to make sure everyone sees this post. it's also in the parts wanted section.

I'm in need of the front floor mats L & R for my 72 350sl. Must be in good or better condition. these are the factory mats that have the 350sl logo in gray carpet fiber. not a stitching [embrodiery]. the colors are black carpet with the gray lettering.

i'm keeping my 72 factory original in appearance. i had some embrodiered for a temp. frankly they look terrible.

you can email me at afmcorp@csinet.net or afm.corp@verizon.net
or you can call me at 877-849-4612 toll free or fax at 219-324-5804.

these are the last items needed to complete the project. and i'd like the next trip out of the garage to have these factory matts.

tks

What you are asking for is not a genuine MB part. As such buy it where ever the aftermarket source does it to your tastes the best. You may have trouble getting SL plush carpets with 350 on them though.

tks for the quick reply steve

i've had trouble trying to find someone to make the carpet as seen in the photo. world uph made me a set with stitching but it no way compares. looks cheap.

now my 87 & 88 has this style matts the 88 in front and back. i have been assuming the factory had a hand in these matts. it seems however that no one i've talked to is willing to make them due to mb logo issues.

i guess i need to ask for help now in finding a company to make me a set as seen in the foto.

SO..... anybody out there either have a set of these matts or know a company capable of making a set???

Please help me. my contact numbers are in the first post.

tks

My dealer sold me a set of 4 matts for $98.00. Their OE with the little Stars in the corner. I like them, best $100 bucks I spent on the car they really make the interior look better.

Thumbs down Move this thread

THIS TYPE OF ITEM IS A WASTE FOR THOSE OF US THAT JUST WANT TO READ TECH SUPPORT. I AM SORRY TO HEAR YOUR SELFISHNESS OF "MUST HAVE" TO TAKE UP BANDWITH ON THIS FORUM.... PARTS IS WHERE IT BELONGS.

ALL OF US OUR COURTEOUS WHEN WE POST SOMETHING FOR SALE OR WANTED, SO I WOULD ONLY EXPECT THE SAME FROM ANOTHER USER, ESPECIALLY WITH THE AMOUNT OF POSTS YOU HAVE.

yosshimura;

please stop your yelling, get over your anger and please get a life!

this was a legitimate question. for the record i've also posted this inquiry on the sl, vintage and parts boards. after more than 2 years of searching i'm looking for help from the people most likely to know how to find these floor mats so i can finish my car.

this is all i'll have to say on this and i thank everyone who has and who will respond with help in finding these elusive floor mats.

yours truly,
craig morris

I agree with craig. YOU NEED TO CHILL. he is asking for technical advise on a restoration. That is why this forum is here. It is not just about turning wrenches and R+R a mechanical part. He is trying to complete a restoration, which can be very difficult.

"ALL OF US OUR COURTEOUS WHEN WE POST"
Then you should know that capital letters means your shouting at us, that is not very courteous.

Additionally, if you don't know. Craig owns a machine shop. His technical knowledge, you may find a little bit more than yours. There have been many a post provided by Craig that has helped all on this forum.

Besides, who made you King and ruler of the forum.

Craig, I'll try to keep an eye out for you.

Must Have UPdate

wouldn't you know it

on the off chance the dealer might know something i gave him a call this am.

[now the old boy i like to talk to was around when the 72's were new and he remembers several things. he mentioned the switch gear when i was having problems with my ignition. he also ferretted out some special clips i was looking for]

i didn't get the guy i wanted but i explained what i was trying to accomplish. he said ok hang on a minute. well about 3 minutes later he comes back and asks what color and i say black with grey/silver lettering. has me hang on and a minute later says yep they are available. i was flabbergasted. i said naw you're kidding it can't be that simple. he said yes that they kept an old book and the part number still comes up as available.

well i threw my CC number at him and he said they'd ship it directly to me. well i'll be a true believer when they get here on Friday. and this is from the same company that wanted to charge me 124.00 yes 124.00 pesos for the correct distributor rotor for this car. they are about 50 miles away which is the closet MBZ dealer to me.

will wonders never cease. i'll let you all know if they were the ones i want.

tks to all!!!
