as i reciently posted:I HAVE A 300E THAT RUNS OK EXEPT FOR A SLIGHTLY ROUGH IDLE , A DELAY ON TAKE OFF AND A NOTICEABLE AMOUNT OF HORSEPOWER LOSS.
WHATS WIERD IS IF YOU LET THE CAR SIT FOR A DAY EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT TILL THE NEXT DAY
I TESTED THE THEORY AGAIN AND DIDNT USE IT FOR 4 DAYS. IT WAS 50 DEGREES OUTSIDE WHEN I STARTED IT AND ALL I HAD TO DO WAS TAP THE IGNITION AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP! USUALLY IT TAKES A RETRY OR AT LEAST TWO SECONDS BEFORE IT WILL IGNITE. I HOPE THAT THE INFO GIVEN WILL BE ENOUGH FOR A REASONABLE EXPLANATION.
ANY RESPONCE WILL BE GREATELY EPRECIATED.
THANKS,
ADAM

i was wondering (since i have heard so much talk about them) could my cats be causing this problem by creating too mutch back pressure. i know my rear muffler was so bad i had to rip it off for holy rust bucket embarressment reasons.
your response will be appreciated
thanks!

I'm no expert but I've posted a similar question about a year ago and all the feedback was (and all auto manuals support this) that a clogged cat presents itself at higher rpm when the engine needs to exhaust more and can't.
I had the sluggish/delay in acceleration from a standing start. Mine was a combination of an erratic fuel pump and a bad radiator which caused the motor to run a little warm which the computer compensated for by altering the timing to cool the motor which severely affected performance.
Hope I offered more insight than confusion.
intruder.
P.S. The CD rom was very useful BTW. If you don't have one and want a fair alternative. Try one of the popular mechanics version which offers most of the data in a much easier to use format. But you can't replace the original for the amount of info.

In reading your problem, my thoughts were from the past, the distant past.

In the old days, with which I am familiar, this would have made me think about the fuel tank vent, or a clogged fuel filter, or fuel pick up screen.

That said, I believe if this were the case in a modern car, a code would be set due to low fuel pressure.

Just food for thought,
