Turn Signal Problems, any idea's

I own a 1999 500S. I had to replace the right front turn signal bulb and socket. Now the turn signals only work when the headlamps are off. They are also blinking too fast. When I turn on the headlamps they do not blink at all, they are bright but do not blink. The rear looks just fine.
Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?

What were the symptoms of the original light and socket? Why did you need to replace it?

I had to replace it when the turn signal lens broke. The clip holding it in broke.
I was able to fix the issue with the bulb when I gave a 1/2 turn to the bulb then put it back into the socket holder.

1st ?, do you have clear lenses with amber bulbs or are they amber lenses with clear bulbs? I believe the bulb bases have different offsets for the pins which lock them in place.

2nd ?, is the problem isolated to one side or both?
