99 SLK 230 brake lights not working - not bulbs or fuse

Do you know of any problems with the 99 slk 230 brake lights? Mine are not working and it's not a fuse or bulb. It has to be the housing connections right? Because it has juice to the plug. Just no left or right brake lights. Tail and center brake work fine.

For some reason the bulb sockets go bad. They were replaced on my 99 SLK230. I don't know how much they cost as they were replaced under warranty.

I don't have the repair manual for this vehicle but are the bulb sockets easy to replace?

I've had this problem with a 98 slk and it turned out to be the connections on the lens were pitted and the lens had to be replaced. It is not a difficult project. Good luck.

reply to issue

I had the brake light issue on my slk230 '99 and replaced the light bulbs and the bulb holders in the right one, but i still got the error inside the car. I then replaced and readjusted the ones on the left side and that seemed to work, cuz the error light finally went away. also, make sure all the bulbs you have the Right ones on all the bulbs in the light fixtures.
