How do you knock out guide-rail pins ???
The MB CD shows you a tool similar to a dent-puller being screwed into the pin but what size of screw do you use ???
Do replacement pins come with new guide rails ??? Thanks |

if you are reffering to the pivot pins, you need M6 x 1MM bolts. This is the size I used for my 560 SEL when I replaced the chain rails last month. In order to clear off the irregular webbing on the engine block, I used different sizes of wing nuts as spacers and counterhold to pull the pins out of the block.

I use a deep socket slightly bigger that the pins .put the right size bolt with washer throught the sockets racthets end and into the threaded hole in the pin then turn bolt and draw pin into socket.......

When re-seating the pivot pins I use one of the fan bolts. They're perfect size, just thread one all the way in and use the bolt head as the bearing surface for the tapping blows of the hammer. Tapping is the key word here, don't drive them in with all you can muster just easy tapping until they bottom.
