I love it! A 190E 2.6 5 speed thread.

I've never maxed it out. Most I've gone is about 100, I spend too much time painted by radar.

Everything is factory, including the gearing, and it was originally purchased in Manhattan, although there are some odd things with the car. It doesn't have an antenna switch or an economy gauge. And when I changed the clutch master the new one was a touch shorter, just enough to not actuate the cruise control disconnect switch. I put a spacer on it so the cruise control doesn't think I'm always on the clutch but it doesn't stay on. I need to find a better way of attaching it.

Regarding brakes, I think they last longer cause you're not always stopping against the slight but constant force of the torque converter. I stopped using engine braking when I realized the cost difference between the engine and the brakes, the brakes are a lot cheaper. Although I will use air conditioner braking when I can.

Heck I've hit over 100 MPH in third gear! Based on 849 revs per mile for the OE tires at the 6650 rev limiter the speeds in the first three gears are 37, 66, and 104.

They may not feel that quick around town, but find an empty freeway, drop it to third at 70, and the accleration is pretty impressive.

Just for posterity I wish to mention that if anyone updates their tranny from automatic to standard or visa versa...

Do not forget to properly align the flywheel ring gear, and associated components "aligning marks in a straight line from inner to outer"...

Not doing so will get the crank sensor out of whack!
