As you all know, there are many tools for these vehicles that you only need one time. So, buying them is a costly proposition and doesn't make economic sense.

So, we have established a tool rental program whereby members can rent a tool from other members utilizing the board as the source for the desired. tool.



If you wish to place a tool on the list for rent, please send me a PM with the name of the tool and the cost of the rental. I will put it in this post.

If you need to rent a tool listed below, contact the owner of the tool via Private Message or e-mail. The terms of the rental are between the lessor and the lessee. In the case of tools that may be damaged or where there is risk of injury to the end user, I recommend selling the tool to the member. When the tool is returned, the sales price, less the rental fee and shipping, is returned to the member.

Good job, Brian.

How about a wish list and perhaps a list of tools that folks are willing to lend in the confines of their driveway?

I'd love to find someone who will share an IP A-B timing light or a dynamic tester. Hopefully someone close to me has one I can come over and use.

The terms of the rental are between lessor and lessee. If someone has such a tool and will rent it in the confines of their driveway, that's fine.

I'll add it to the list and the members can work it out between themselves.

I'd sure like to rent the RIV tool to set timing on the 603. It would guarantee accuracy and save me immense grief with it. Maybe I'll try to buy one myself and rent it out, if nobody has one available.

bennet, I'd be interested in the guage. Right now though I have a big suspension project just getting under way on my dad's 300E plus I have to get my oil pan on the engine. I really miss my car.

I need the tool to remove the rear wheel bearing retainer nut in '79 300SD.

Its the round socket wrench with four fingers that fit in the recesses of the bearing retainer nut to screw the retainer nut in or out.

If no one has one, I'll buy one and put in the rental pool.

I don't mind a personal check. But, I suppose Paypal would also be acceptable. However, you must realize that Paypal will get a percentage of the entire deposit, not just a percentage of the rental. Then, when the deposit is returned, they get the almost the same amount going the other way.

It can add up to some money.

What would Paypal take for the spring compressor? $230.00 one way. $200.00 the other way??

We have a nice compression tester and a leakdown tester available for rent or in exchange for letting us borrow your tool that we need.

I don't really have any special tools that I can think of but I do have the large allen wrench for removing the water plug to install a bock heater on a 617. Cost me like $13? I'd rent it out pretty much for the cost of shipping each way. I will soon be buying a flywheel lock tool for the 60x engines. Unless of course someone here already has one? It holds the flywheel so the front crank seal can be replaced.

This would be the case if the tool owner were to return the deposit by using the "send money" option. However, PayPal also has a "refund" option (either full or partial). From their web site:
