Wanted: CV Boot Air Tool

If anyone has the Dorman or similar Air Tool for stretching the Flex type cvboots, I would like to rent. If not, would any be interested in a buy-in? I've found for as little as 160$ but only need to do this job once.

Before buying measure how far you need to stretch your cv boots on Mercedes axles. You might find the opening of some of these boot guns is right at the limit or just under.

It does make a difference which brand you buy.

The expensive one works very well because you can carefully stretch without over-stretching.

I bought "the original" "and best" bootgun brand. Nicely made - does the job - seems to stretch it evenly but barely makes it big enough for a W123 (homokinetic) axle can. Bit of a struggle.

If you were to try and use this on something like a W116 axle can there's no hope of getting the thing to open wide enough with the gun I've got.

If anything the quality of the boots was more of a problem than the quality of the bootgun. For you guys in the US of A it seems as though the astoria brand are the ones to go for. Can't get 'em 'ere though...
