Big block..
Nothing, I mean nothing compares to the torque of a good old American big block. Sure the Euro engines are more sophisticated, but when you stomp on a 502 or 396 they make power down low and are drunk on torque.
They sure do melt rubber real good.

WHOOOOP!!! You go billy joe bob, work that amurican muscle! V8 power is pretty awesome but what is the point of a burnout other than to impress trailer park people? Sorry had to vent a little... I take **** from rednecks all the time about my benz, but it never lets me down btw I love old american cars

I have worked on Mercedes for 15 years, but grew up around Mopars. I have owned some early '70's Buick and Olds 455 cubic inch monsters, and they are a blast! The torque is awesome! The '04 S55 AMG I had the pleasure of working on not too long ago compares favorably with those old big blocks on torque "feel". I'll drive either one, and love it! For me, front engine, rear drive V-8 is the ticket, be it German or American!

I'm sure plenty of burnouts are done just to blow pointless rubber and smoke in the air for all the trailer park people to "oooo" at though.

Trailer park people, dude, thats utterly ignorant.
nice vids. I have new redline Firestone 500s on the back of the 67 Chevelle. At $165 a pop, my days of 100 ft burnouts are over! BTW, a standard 4 kink suspension will stay straight as an arrow of you have the preload set right on the rear springs. Doing a burnout at 40 or 55 mph is utterly insane when it stays on a string. |

Plenty of us non-"trailer park people" enjoy it, too.

Hey in my younger days I had a 69 Super Bee.
440 6-Pack, man that thing was quick. Even after I dropped the gears to a 3.63 burnouts like that were easy. Didn't even need to dump the clutch. Roll out at idle and punch it. But one burnout was fun, on the expressway at 65, someguy in a Vette pulls up next to me and revs it. I know with the gears etc I couldn't out run him, but I knew I was many times quicker. fyi 560hp, 580ftlb torque dyno'd. As he started to take off I punched it and downshifted to 3rd, and lit'm up. Still had enough grab to catch him and pullway as I hit 4th and wagged the tail, at 90+. That was with Posi, although fiberglass belted tires.
