Running your own business carries a lot of risks and takes a LOT of work in order to be successful. If there's no hope for a big payoff, what's the point? If you put in the time, money, sweat, and tears to make a success of it, you ought to be able to enjoy it at some point.
I can respect some guy who does that and creates jobs for others in the process. I think he's much more entitled to rewards than the jerks who have made a career out of the "public service."
