Location of internal Carburetor Screen for 250
FastLane (and other vendors) sell this for the 1971 250, yet I have been unable to find it on the carbs I'm working on. I suspected the screen at the fuel inlet, but it is a 90 deg open flow. Anyone have any ideas?

It's behind the male fitting to which the female fitting on the fuel line attatches. You unscrew it from the carb body with a 17mm wrench.
I believe the filters were discontinued at some point, though, so don't be surprised if they're not there.

Thanks, Chuck
I'm rebuilding the carbs, but I think that my original problem stems from the fact the the 2 vacuum lines at the base of the 3 way valve have be connected exactly as pictured in the diagram. PSFred first mentioned to verify the correct hook up , but that helpful piece of information was somehow 'lost'.
What I hate to admit is as I observed the timing scale scale change to more degrees, it was actually retarding the Timing, not advancing. I believe I have a handle on this, but I am rebuilding the carbs, they need it.

My 69 230/8 with Zeniths does not have any filter screens at the carbs. So they must have been discontinued sometime earlier than 69. In fact, I have never seen screens on any Zeniths, just a filter at the pump. Old models had a screen in the pump and later models have a separate cartridge filter after the pump on the line to the carbs.

I had a pair of carbs of uncertain origin that did have them. They had the idle solenoids, so they were (probably) post-mid-1970. Go figure.
I also encountered them on a 1969 280S. Certainly easy enough to check.
