Solex 41A - quick question re: float chamber vent
So I've got my gummed-up little Sollie in dozens of pieces, happily soaking in Gumout carb parts cleaner. But on disassembly, I noticed two things: 1) The vac line for the float chamber vent valve was disconnected/plugged and 2) the carb rebuild kit I got does not include the float chamber vent diaphram.
So question - aside from emissions, what are the ramifications of having a dead valve that forces external venting? And would it be better to install a block-off plate that forces internal venting? Thanks, gurus!

FWIW, there seems to be no functional difference with the dead valve (i.e. full open).
I did forget to install the holder spring on the float and had gasoline pouring out of the vent valve when the fuel wouldn't shut off, but that's another story.
