1980 250s...???
Not familiar with it. One for sale locally. Guy said he bought it in Europe and had it shipped. Anyone know anything about one?

Unlikely, even in Europe. A remarkable number of people don't have a clue what they have. Have them check the title.

The 123 did indeed have a 250 model in Europe and elsewhere. It was an inline carbureattored six intermediate between the 230 four cylinder and the 280 DOHC six. Dont know if it was made all the way to the end of 123 production in late 85 or 86 but it may have been.
Update. Sorry I just re-read the post title. If you mean 250S as in S-class, then no. That is no such thing from the 80's. - Peter.

people screw up the letters all the time. If he has the engine size and the year right, it's a 250. The M123 engine is the successor to the carb'd M130, but with the same (almost) carb as an M110.
Of course, he could have the year wrong and the model right. Get the chassis number and you'll know for sure. -CTH |

The ad is in the paper again.
1980 Mercedes 250 60k mint cond. $8500 So this was an inline 6 carbed model? He did say that he bought the car overseas and that it had a carb. Interesting conversation. He was very entertaining to listen to. I was just curious to see the car and have no intentions of buying. I have the number if anyone is interested.

They're temperamental - not many 250s in America. I looked at one about six months ago because it had a four-speed, but I ruled it out because it was a stripper model - no power, no ac, no nada. Not my style.
Worth $8500? He's a nutjob. Perhaps $6500 if the car is perfect, and even then I'm not sure I do it.

A 1980 250 is a W123 sedan. It's not worth 4k in pristine shape, let alone 8,500$. I have the LWB variant car. That one is interesting, but in pristine shape it's still wouldn't be worth that much.
