Yeah..

I replaced the points, distributor cap and the ignition wires......and it didn't seem to matter one bit.

After an attempt to start it, I put a finger in each primary ...and the results were this:
The rear carb was SOAKED with gas..I could smell it, BIG TIME.
The front carb was barely damp, or a little wet...probably more normal.

SO....I'm beginning to think these carburetors MAY have problems that aren't fixable.

AND I STILL have timing issues...*sigh*

What should I do??

Ignition problems can be tricky, but they have to be fixed first. After trying to start for some time, gas will fill up the carbs because the fuel pump is forcing it in there. I thought my brand new carbs were not working right, but it was mostly just timing issues that the guys on this forum helped me resolve.
After changing all those ignition parts, are you sure that each spark plug is firing and in the correct order? You may have to back up and check your ignition stuff again. To check mine, I pulled out the spark plug wires out of each spark plug, pulled up the rubber boot to expose some metal and taped them to the engine block above the spark plug they connect to so that there was a quarter inch gap from the exposed metal part of the spark plug wire to the engine block. Then turn the key in the igntion (don't give it any gas) and you should see all spark wires throw a spark to the engine in the proper order. (its not numerical order in my car like I thought). This will let you know that your rotor is turning freely and that the rotor didn't crack your distributor cap and that your coil is good. If that is working fine, setting your timing isn't that hard.
