tire size/pressure questions for 108s

I just bought 185/75 R 14 tires from Just Tires. It cost me $231 installed including tax. They are Nankang tires, cheapies for sure - not sure how good these are. I needed to replace the dry rotted ones that were on it and they will do until I find a more expensive brand. I do have some questions:

1) Any advantages to moving to 195/70 size? This is more common to find, however, I like the original look of 185/75. When shopping for tires, many shops asked me why I didn't use 195/70

2) What tire pressures do you guys recommend? The pressures stated on the gas flap seem really low. The warm pressures are 30 front and 38 rear. The tires still look low at these pressures. I read in one thread that you should increase the recommended pressures by 10psi?

3) Tire brand recommendations for the 6 cylinder w108? No clue on these...best tires for $$$?

any input appreciated
