280 sl valve adjustment

How do i get the valve cover off? ( all bolts, brakets etc are oof) I cannot seem to get it to clean the hood latch at the rear of the engine.
And what are the proper clearances?
Any idea where i can by the plastic crank case vent tube? I just broke mine.
Thanks, Mike

If the valve cover will not clear the hood latch on a 113 , that means you have collapsed motor mounts [ including the rear one]..so, a trick is to but a jack under the bell housing and lift the motor just an inch or two.
The tube can be gotten through FastLane.

Clearance is .003 int/ .007 exhaust/cold..between cam and rocker

Is this what you mean?

$4.61 at fastlane. Click "Buy Parts" on the top, and search for B2010-31756

280 valve adj

Art: So much for the valve adjustmment. The last lobe on the cam is wiped out. Can the cam be replaced with out disturbing the head? It looks like the cam bolts also hold the head on. Mike

Go to the 113 site ....they have a classified section and there are plenty of parts guys there.. or the SLS site I posted...cams are ex$pen$ive.
There is a cam index mark that you should line up before removing the cam..that will not only get you lined up for the new one,but it will also let you know if the chain is stretched.
Go to that site and use the Search feature ..just plug in "Cam"...
