Megasquirt Install Quotation

Guys, i just asked DIY Auto Tune for a quotation on a megasquirt, we are talking about $945.50 for the parts. Plus the cost of the TBI unit.

Check it

If you're going to use a GM TBI set up, which is a good idea, and a common one as well. I'm not sure what all you'll need, but you'll want to get the MS2, since it will be able to fully use the TBI set up.

Here's a quote for a complete system with the kits unassembled:

MS230-K $247 Megasquirt-II kit with V3.0 PCB
MSStim22-K $45 Stimulator kit
MSRelay-K $64 Relay board kit
MSRelayCable $70 Megasquirt to relay board cable
LG-Wirebund $40 12' wire bundle for relay board to engine
CLTIATwPiggy $17.75 Coolant temperature sensor
IATwPiggy $22.25 IAT Sensor
38NPT-Bung_A $9 Aluminum bung for IAT sensor (Also available in stainless steel)
TuneCable $5.50 6' DB9 tuning cable
USB-2920 $20 (Only needed if your laptop doesn’t have a true DB9 port)
Subtotal without wideband-- $540.50

And here’s a quote for a pretty complete system with the ECU/Stim assembled:

MS2357-C $405 Assembled Megasquirt-II with V3.57 PCB
MSStim22-C $69 Assembled Stimulator
MSRelay-C $88 Assembled relay board
MSRelayCable $70 Megasquirt to relay board cable
LG-Wirebund $40 12' wire bundle for relay board to engine
CLTIATwPiggy $17.75 Coolant temperature sensor
IATwPiggy $22.25 IAT Sensor
38NPT-Bung_A $9 Aluminum bung for IAT sensor (Also available in stainless steel)
TuneCable $5.50 6' DB9 tuning cable
USB-2920 $20 (Only needed if your laptop doesn’t have a true DB9 port)
Subtotal without wideband-- $746.50

The wideband oxygen sensor is a very useful tuning tool. Almost all dyno shops have wideband sensor systems they can install temporarily when tuning your car on the dyno. It's almost essential to have a wideband if you are tuning a standalone yourself, particularly on a turbo engine. With a wideband sensor, you can also run at closed loop under boost and use the sensor to target a rich air-fuel mixture to keep you out of detonation. Megasquirt works with most popular aftermarket wideband oxygen sensor controllers. We carry the Innovate Motorsports line. You can find pictures of the gauges on our website.
Wideband Options—

LC-1 without gauge $199 (you can still view real-time AFR and datalog AFR through your laptop)
LC-1 with Westach analog gauge $258
LC-1 with DB digital gauge $229 (available in red or blue)
LC-1 with G2 or G3 analog gauge $289
LC-1 with XD-16 digital gauge $329
LM-2 data logger with one O2 sensor $479
LM-2 data logger with two O2 sensors $669

I think this will give you a pretty good start in the right direction. If you’d like to place an order, you can do so at www.diyautotune.com/catalog and it will calculate exact shipping costs (based on weight of your order) and accept all major credit cards securely. If there is anything else I can assist with, please just let me know!

Thanks,Justin ShahanTechnical supportDIYAutoTune.com

You can about cut that in half with some scrounging. The relay board is nice but optional, and you can usually find somebody with a stem to test your box.

It's still cheap considering.

You can knock the stim ($69) out of the assembled kit. You only need it for assembly testing. They should be pre-testing their MS BEFORE they ship.

Buy either the assembled cable or the 12 foot wire bundle not both.

The relay board is nice but not a neccessity. I wouldn't do it without one but I'm lazy.

The IAT and the CLT sensors are the same. You can get them at any autoparts shop. Standard GM. Ends are about $4.

No need for a bung for the IAT. Mount it directly into the air cleaner sheet metal.

You can knock $150 to $250 off their assembled price right off the bat.

They are great people to deal with and extremely helpful.

yea, I've been browsing their website in addition to pouring over the megasquirt book online.

soo much stuff man.

I will have to talk to my friend that knows MS in depth so he can just order what I need.

MS reminds me of Linux(on the desktop anyway) about six or ten years ago.
It's just TOO much, info and option overload, hard to get started, but gold when it's there. I just don't have the time.
