bearing and race question for a differential

Hi,

On a W108 4.5, I am replacing my 3,27 diff with a 2,82 one out of a 6.3. In fact, I am just swapping the wheel tubes from the 4.5 onto the 6.3 rear axle, as the 6.3 has an anti-dive breaking system needing brackets on the chassis that I don't have on my car.

Bearings are good on both diffs and are the same. My question is: Can I use the race fitted in the 4.5 left wheel tube with the bearing fitted on 6.3 diff? I'm asking because I may damage the races if I try to remove them to swap.

I always thought bearing and races could not be swapped around but the other day a professional told me this was not really a problem. What do you think?

Thanks!

I think you *could* have problems combining parts from 2 different bearings, especially if the bearings are from different makers.
