Exclamation Mechanical Knocking - 1979 300D

Hi, I have jst bought this and there is a loud mechanical knocking sound each time I turn right. It disappears when I straighten up. It sounds like it's related to rotary motion of some kind (maybe something knocking on thre wheel?)and it's coming from the rear paaenger-side wheel area. c Someone mentioned it could be worn shocks...?? Of course, I can take it to a shop but wondered if anyone had any ideas? Thanks.

One of the rear axle CV joints has worn out. This happens when the boot splits and the oil runs out. When a car is no longer serviced by a mercedes specialist these boot splits go un noticed and the result is an expensive repair.

I second that opinion - crawl underneath and look at those boots...
