280CE Questions
Got questions about a 1978 280CE 2.8 Gas. I don't have the owners manual.
What spark plugs does it take? Gap? (like 24 different ones come up in the parts store computer with varying gaps) -Autohous is recommending the Bosch 7911 and they are saying it is pregapped What weight oil does it take in the summer, and how many quarts. (unknown) Are the air filters available at like Advance? (the advance website doesn't find an OEM paper filter) Going to run a Road Rally in it with my girlfriend (time distance regularity) and I don't know when the oil was last changed and if I am going to drive about 300 miles it may as well be efficient as it can be on premium gas. Thanks!

Thanks
It's a US spec car. I'll probably buy the NAPA filter this time around. Found out the plugs only have 600 miles on them and they look good so they'll stay but the oil, despite having 400-500 miles on it hasn't been changed in a year. Next, valve adjustment, is there a good M110 how to? I keep finding conflicting numbers on what the gaps should be. This motor has been clackity as heck since the motor was rebuilt.

May just be the engine sound, all M110s I've heard are quite mechanical in sound even when running in tip-top shape.

Some asked if it was a 300CD, it clacks that loud.

Its gonna have a valve clatter, they all do. Have you adjusted the valves, they could be loose causing to much clatter.

No I haven't adjusted them, that's why I was looking for a good how to. I googled it and found a few but no pictures and several different gaps.
