71 280se coupe sub-frame mounts
My mechanic has recommended I replace my sub frame mounts and my transmission mount. Does anyone now how big of a job this procedure intails? Time need for repairs?
Thanks, Dave 71 280SE 3.5 Coupe |

To give you an exact idea on the complexity of this job, Mike Tangas wrote a great DIY a while back:

What's a good way to inspect them? I get some vibration from the front above 65mph. I don't think its anything else because it doesn't 'feel' like its from the tires and I definitely dont feel it on hte steering wheel (which has a dampening system I believe).

The front will "wander" if they're shot. Also, if you jack up the front at the jack point or by the frame rail and the front wheel just takes a very long time to lift off the ground, and you can see space or daylight when you look down at the mount from under the hood, they are totally shot. A vibration is USUALLY tire or wheel related (bearing, loose lug(s), wheel out of balance, tire flatspotted or out of round, etc)
