M129 Injection Pump Oil Level
Hi, car is a 1967 250SE with M129 engine- had read in other posts about checking the IP oil level, first car I've had where it's not been fed from the engine... found the red oil cap, but no dipstick on the back of the pump that I saw mentioned in other posts that I could see... can anyone tell me what the correct level should be at the cap/fill hole? (or where the dipstick is hiding...)
cheers...

This will help:
http://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=790.0 Early injection pumps have an oil sump, later ones are fed by engine oil.

On the rear of the pump is a large hex nut. You can undo this and let the oil flow out. If it is overful the pump needs repairs ,other than you only need to suck the old oil out and replenish it with around 100mls of new oil . Too much oil prevents the governor working properly and this makes the car sluggish.
The large hex nut is on the right of the pump ,and the oil dip stick is that bolt above it with the pin through the top. |

Yes- the dipstick is tiny (as you'd expect) and located at the rear of the IP- it screws in/out.
