1964 230sl what is it worth?

I just bought a 1964 230sl as a car to resell. It is in far from nice
shape. it has been in what looks to have been barn storage for ten to 15 years. the botom sid e is pretty soft and rusty. but tje car is complete with removable hard top and all aluminum pieces are in good shape. and trunk and upper body panels are pretty solid. it is a stick shift with fuel injected engine. were all of these cars injected? anyway im just curius of the value and it is for sale in tulsa,ok.
thanks for any responses,
hillbilly

Hilbilly (nice name, heh heh):

This is a tough call on what it's worth. I would say, without seeing the car, anywhere between $5,000 and $7,000. Does it run? That's a biggie. Is the interior tatty? From what I read, it sounds like this car is in need of major renovation. I've seen 113 SLs get snapped up for as little as $3,000 but they needed tons of work to get them back going again.

The engine hasnt ran in years and the interioior while being complete is pretty rotten amd would have to be redone. the underside is pretty rotten and would require lots of replacement for restoration of car. Are all of these cars fuel injected? Also do you think cars this rotten get restored or more of just a parts car?
Do you still think its worth as much as $3000.

It's more of a parts car, but the big thing to check is the tranny
Look for a 5 speed rather than a four.

They are sought after.

Hilbilly,

Yes, all of the W113 SLs are fuelies. From the condition you describe your car to be in, it sounds like it's a better parts donor for another car. If you are interested in dumping it, let me know I might have some use for it.

The biggest bang for your buck is to get the engine running - but you will probably need to get the pump rebuilt.

The chrome and body parts are worth some money. Just look on ebay.

Yes I have learned you are right. But I found a place in WI that is supposed to be sending me a cashiers ck for$3500.00 and then sending transportation for it. I could hardly turn that down since I have next to nothing in it. Thanks for all your posts to make me aware of what it was worth. I still have a 84 190d and a 82 300sd so I will still be around.
thanks to all,
Hillbilly

Any chance the "place in Wisconsin" was Sam at Eurocars?

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. Sam is dead straight honest. I've dealt with him for years. It's just that when you said he was from Wisconsin, it had to be Sam. And, Sam only buys cars when they are a real good deal. Oh well!
