Where are the colors found at on a 69 280SE? The outside is green and the inside is brownish, but I would like to know thier numbers. Thanks!

The data plate that has the paint and interior color code information is on the radiator crossmember. Open the hood and look for the plate immediately to the right of the hood latch mechanism.
Now comes the hard part: finding the right numbers! On my car ('72 280SE 4.5) the plate's numbers are arranged like this:

877
466 491 515 589 593
903 H ---
108067 12 7
5B 0 11817 91442

My paint # is 903. I believe the letter 'H' following is the trim code , although I'm not 100% sure about this. Hope this helps.

The #903 H is the paint code. The letter after it(H)is the paint manufacturer Herbets. The other choice would have been a "G" for Glasurit paint. The interior trim code is also a 3 digit number. But I forget which one...

Randy D.

The paint code is on the plate, but the trim code is only on the data build card.
The good news is that you can get the build card by simply writing the M/Benz Classic Centre.
They have been great and a build card is nice to have.

The address is:
Daimler Chrysler AG
Mercedes Benz Classic Centre
HPC 096 / R 051
70546 Stuttgart, Germany
It's free and takes 2 weeks.
I also have the Fax, if anyone interested, email me.
