Brake Pull to one side.. help me with next steps

Hi all.

'67 200D and it's developed a nasty pull to the side on braking. It pulls to the left. At first, I thought it might be a bad front-right caliper. I don't think that's it though. With partial pressure on the brake pedal, I noticed that the left seems to engage faster and fuller than the right. If you mash on the brake pedal, however, both are fully engaged.

Also, after a quick test drive I noticed that the front left wheel was hot (feel the heat) while the right was cool.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Thanks. That's been done. Nice and shiny rubber... but it is a relatively cheap fix. I'll go through the motions again.

Brand new hoses now, but no luck still. I bled the brakes using the "i'm by myself" method. I'll try bleeding again with a helper later.

Someone suggested that I jack up the wheel, mash on brakes, then see if the wheel can turn by hand. For both sides, the wheel could spin freely.

Anymore thoughts? Thanks again.

Check the pad retention spring clips, if someone mistakenly fit vented rotor parts they will be too thick and prevent the pads from clamping the discs. It will pull if the pads on one side are thinner.

Are you sure you have disc brakes on the front? Some of the 110's came with drums all around. If this is the case you have a self adjuster that has bound up on you and not adjusting out like it should, hence giving you no breaking on one side.

Also check your brake fluid level. Drum brakes were known for blowing the wheel cylinders and leaking brake fluid and this would give you no brakes on that wheel.

And I think 1967 was the first year for dual master cylinder brake systems. If your master cylinder has two brake lines coming off of it then one system may be working and the other may not. You would not notice the real wheel not braking on one side but you would surely notice a front wheel not breaking. This could be as simple as replacing your master cylinder.

Thanks. Good to ask, but yes.. I have disc front - drums rear with a dual master. I'm waiting for the wife to come home to help on the 2-person bleeding.

Sounds like caliper to me , or still with air in the line or bad line . Are the steel lines OK those prior to the rubber?
Did you clean out the resvior and blow lines clean prior to reassembly?

I guess you could have an issue with the master cylinder , but less likely

I think you have one stuck piston on the right caliper.
