72 280SE 4.5 newbie questions

Hi,

Just purchased a one owner 78000 mile well maintained 280.

I've searched the forums but still have some questions:

1. The column shift indicator works but is not aligned with the correct gear (i.e Drive shows slightly to the left of Neutral). Is there a simple adjustment to align such as a threaded adjustor on a bike cable or does this require linkage adjustment?

2. Has anyone found replacement actual fog lenses that fit on the front turn signals and rewired and converted to actual fogs? One side is loose and I cannot figure out how to remove. Is there a screw at the bottom of the light? The nuts inside of the engine compartment are tight

3. Has anyone retrofitted amber triangles to the outside of the stacked headlights to convert to front directionals? Any idea where to purchase?

4. Replaced subframe mounts, engine and trans mounts had been replaced in the past. Also replaced shocks with Koni adjustable Classics set on medium- still would like to improve understeer and lean- should I set rebound at hard? Any replacement sway bars or mods that would reduce the lean? Any suspension thought or help appreciated.

5. all 4 Vacuum locks actuate when car is first shut off but don't retain air. how do I access the reservoir area to check for leaks? any other suggestions?

Again, thanks to everyone as I have been reading the forum and learning a great deal about these cars. This is my 2nd Merc (first was a 71 Unimog 406 Diesel)

Eric
