Any ideas why my W115 rear bumper sticks out more on one side than the other?
Hey folks,
So, the rear bumper on my W115 sticks out more on one side than the other. I've had a look underneath and the mounts look original, but one is massively shorter than the other. Pics: ![]() ![]() Am I missing something? Or are the mounts two-piece or something? ![]() Thanks |

The mounts are shock absorbers. Grab a hold of the side that's compressed and give it a good tug to see if you can pull it back out.

Yep, your bumper shocks.
My 6.3 as I remember, instead of bumper shocks, had a metal bracket that was designed to compress and save the bumper. However after compressed it did not come back; had to be replaced. I had a lady hit me lightly on the back bumper and, though nothing was visible to the eye, my indy replaced that bumper gizmo. |

Or, you could drill a couple holes in the other mount's shock, let the oil out, and push that side in all the way to match the other, and reduce the "diving board" effect of that awful US-spec bumper.
