removing ferrule nuts on mercedes switches
Dash switches, that is.
Look at your dash. See the little chrome ring with two slots in it that holds the switches in place? I need to know if there is a tool for removing those nuts and what it might be called. And if anyone has a Hazet number.... So much the better. Right now I just use a slot screwdriver to ease them off. But if there is such a tool for unscrewing them I would rather use the tool. So... Anyone know the name of this tool? |

Bezel nut tool, may be specific to year or model.

On the W110/111/112 the nuts have holes rather than slots. In these cases I use a “C-clip” pliers with long pins in it. If they’re not too tight that would probably work for the slotted ones, too.
Never seen a wrench, although I’m sure they exist. Dan |

For the slotted bezels, a piece of tubing of the appropriate diameter can be filed to leave two nubs that will mate up with the slots. For the bezels with holes on the side, it's easy enough to make a tool from a wire coat hanger if you can find one.

The dash escutcheon tool shows up from time to time on ebay. It's a round tube with pins on one end and handle through the tube on the other.
Google that magic SAT word and you can find others who've made their own. -CTH |

One could take a piece of steel or similar material of your choice. With about the same thickness as the slots. Narrow it down until about the diameter of the slotted nut. Cut out or grind out the center deep enough to get in on the nut. Easy and quickly done if you have the right tools around.
