I was just given a 79 6.9

188k. Water had been leaking onto floors. Mostly surface rust. Starts right up. Self leveling system working. Big oil leak under oil canister. Not sure what to look for there.tried to spray some oil off.
I want to keep it but it scares me with all the expensive parts and complexity. Has an upgraded to climate servo. Push buttons work on cc work.

oil tank may be rusty where the mounting brackets attach. water will sit in the joint.

Remove trunk lining and undo nuts holding the tank on. From below, remove the fuel lines at the tank and push the tank grommet into the trunk area. Pull on it from the passenger side to start to remove it. I can't remember where it is on a W116 but you'll have to also remove the sending unit plug.

Fairly straightforward, I think it's mostly 17mm and 19mm for the hose connections on the bottom.

I think he meant the engine oil tank (dry sump on the 6.9)

Front seat, slide forward take 2 rear track bolts out, under seat remove large spring. slide seat back and remove 2 front bolts.

The big issue is all the water in the floor underpayment material. It acts like a sponge and is stuck to floor. Have to wear a mask, toxic in there. Basically all interior needs to come out. There are the coverings over the vacuum lines on floor that I’m not sure how to remove. The good is that suspension stays up and car starts right up. Non op sunroof , windshield wipers and console switches do not operate windows. Cc push buttons work with fan, upgraded cc box to replace servo. Rust on floors under wet stuff, but mostly surface. Otherwise body is solid. Owner is quite ill with several cars. He left this outside. He would rather have some take it. Nice man retireddoctor

Oil dry sump tank remove large oil lines. You will have to get large crowsfeet wrenches and they can be extremely difficult to remove up to impossible without destroying the hoses. heat may help. then there are 3 rubber standoffs holding it to the inner fender.

Be kind rumb I have nearly 7000 posts here , helping where I can, nearly 1000X more than you , - he indicated that he removed all blots and yes sometimes it is stuck in rust and gunk the spring becomes obvious ,
