200D fintail auto box reverse selection problem

Hi I'm new here having been on the Porsche forum for years, my logins wouldn't get me into the vintage mercs section! The reason is that I'm looking at buying a euro spec 1967 w110 with auto trans that will not get reverse gear. Is that a serious issue on these? Was hoping it might just be down to adjustment but maybe this could be more serious, some kind of internal isssue

Any light that could be shone would be gratefully received

I'm not a transmission expert but, a Benz of that era with either delayed or no engagement of reverse is a sign of a worn clutch pack.

Check that the fluid is full and that the shift linkage is working.

Does forward engage ok?
