Unhappy Ignition problem on 1969 MB 230.6?? Help!!!

Hi! Everyone! I have a 1969 MB 230.6 dual carbs. Today, I drove that car and waiting traffic light. Suddenly, it stalled and could not start again. It seems no power even I turn the key on start position. Starter and distributor (Both not turning). Then, I need to unplug the battery wire and put it back again. Now, it has power on. When i turned the key again, it becomes no power again. After I took off the battery wire and put it back. It had power again. Anyone had that happened before??? Please help me to find out the problem. Thanks

My first choice - it sounds like a dirty, corroded battery cable, terminal or post. Next suspect could be a defective battery.

Mark:
The battery is only 4 months old (like brand new). The cable is in very good condition.

Does the whole electrical system die when you try to crank the car? Try cleaning the cable terminals and battery posts. A 4 month old battery could still be defective. Do you have a voltmeter or 12 volt test light to check for power at the battery, cables etc...to see where the power is dying?

Agree w/the Dr., but could also be the wiring from the fuse panel to the ignition switch to the starter.

Bad Ground!

Or dirty cable connections. Check your ground straps from your battery, and to and from the engine/frame.

Clean up the cable terminals and the ground to the body.
