Red Fluid leak from 190sl?
Maybe I should have posted this on the SL Forum but here goes:
Inspecting a 59 190sl for possible purchase and notice a small puddle of red fluid in the parking space after driving. 3 speed manual shouldn't use ATF or anything red should it? What whould it be? Thanks. J. Boggs |

MB manual transmissions use either ATF or 10w30 motor oil.
My 1958 220s 4 speed uses ATF. The 190sl may have a bad tranny seal.

i faced the same problem with my car, i am not sure about the AT fluid, but according to my mechanic, it might be the power steering pump fault that lead to the drainage of power steering fluid!
i am not sure of u.s spec car but my power steering pump is located at the left hand side of the engine bay( right hand drive model). check where is the site of the drainage and see whether it would originate from the pump! to confirm the "diagnosis", check the power steering fluid level and feel any hesitation while turning the steering. hope it would be helpful |
