Check the Website Yourself

maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I think I'm right.

I checked that site. I think it's a miss-print.

My book 'Mercedes-Benz Production Models 1946-1975', by W Robert Nitske, lists the M180 as the 2.2 and 2.3 engines used in all the 6 cylinder 219, 220 and 230 models from 1951 to 1975.

The 2.5 250S engine is an M108.
The SOHC 2.8 280S engine is an M130.

Aside from the bore size, the major difference is that the M180 has a 4 bearing crankshaft, whereas the M108 has seven bearings.

Happy Motoring, Mark

This is a miss-print : M180.920 / 924, it should read 108.920 / 924.

FYI, the 250s is the only model that as a 108.XXX engine.

What Happened?

This is "300CD79", for some reason my account on this forum got turned into guest status. so, "SoCalBomb" is my new screen name. I'm going to have the car checked out Saturday by my family friend mechanic (MB & BMW). I'll write back with any problems, otherwise I'll post pictures of my new (to me) MB W108.

And If I do Get the Car....

Where can I get a Becker "Europa" radio in good condition. The 280S i'm looking at has some cheap plastic 80's looking casset player, and I would be very interested in replacing it. I would even replace it with a none working good looking Becker "europa" (Just for the looks) Surly, I would get a CD player and fit it in the trunk (or hide it some where else), keeping the car looking stock.

Ebay can be a good place to start; they pop up fairly frequently. There are also several shops around that do a lot with these, but I can't remember who; a search of the forum would turn them up for you.
