Thanks,
Looks like the hubcaps are off a 108 or 114 body. I guess I can try on one of my spare 250 wheels for size. I may even have some extra matching green 114 hubcaps (but with crappy paint!)

Happy Motoring, Mark

Went back to the Tire Rack website and the lone 185/80-13 IS a radial. It's a Goodyear Marathon - Load range C, speed rated R. Wonder why it's listed as trailer only?

If possible, fit the 14 inch tires and wheels, you may have to use downsized tires (like 185-65-14) if there is any interference but I suspect there won't be any even with standard 195-75-14 or similar size tires.
I run 15-inch tires (205-65-15) on my W123 cars, with MB flat face wheels. The handling is much better than with stock 14 inch tires.

Mark, I made a call just out of curiosity but I also figured if they were cheap I'd pick them up for you. Unfortunately the wrecker already sold them cheap, some tire wholesaler bought nearly all the wheels and tires they had.
The guy remembered them, they were Pirellis, amost new too! He promised to call me if some more come in. If I had known these were so scarce I'd have picked them up. Sometimes these places sell things real cheap, other times they want too much you know. I saw an early W115 car one morning, it was nearly perfect except where the forklift operator picked it up and scraped one side with his lift, I called back the same afternoon and it had already been crushed, engine and all! They didn't even bother to remove the hood star!
Cheers,

Listen that Heckflosse web site is the great, second only to Peter Hacks' website: http://www.dhc.net/~pmhack/mercedes/photolst.htm
Anyhow, re: 14 inch wheels.
Check the Heckflosse listing of a beautiful 1963 green 220S finnie owned by an Aussie, dated 12 June 2002, where it is said to have "14 by 6.5 inch wheels from a 6.3 or 6.9 litre, SEL with the additional internal cooling blades".
What are these internal cooling blades? (I'm not familiar with the big displacement sedans like the 6.3)

Yeah, over here so many vintage cars have just dissolved away like Alka-Seltzer tablets but out there, nice ones are so numerous they just go right to the shredder (to make room for storing all those modern 'disposo-cars'!) In Britain, some years back, many older salvage yards were forced out of buisness when new eco-legislation required owners to pave their yards. If finding decent 13 inch tires becomes an exercise in futility, I'll just go the 14 inch route.

Happy Motoring, Mark
