wheel bearing replacement
Hello, just came back from the tire shop and my driver's side rear wheel is really loose. I'm lookng to order the bearing when I've noticed they list an iner and an outer for my car. Do I need either or both?
Thanks, AARON ROCHARD 1976 230.4 W115 |

If you are just back from the tire store, dollar to a donut the lug bolts are loose rather than a bad bearing.
On the rear, the bearing is pressed into the control arm, it's not a tapered bearing, I don't think. Certainly, it's not in two parts. If it's bad, it will knock or grind, but the wheel won't get loose enough to notice. A bad control arm bushing will allow the whole control arm to wobble around, though. A bad Peter

Finally! I found what was wrong with the back wheel. It wasn't the bearing at all!
Upon getting a second opinion and looking at the car with the wheel off, we (read I) found a broken stabilizer. I will have the thing replaced shortly. Thanks for all you help. AARON ROCHARD 1976 230.4 W115 |
