Look at the picture of the red one's cluster - idling at 750RPM or so, 45PSI! Temp looks perfect too. Done deliberatley or just a really, really good machine?

While the engine oil is cold the pressure will be higher. You'll see that gauge drop as the engine oil warms up.

That's why I said the temp looks perfect - it's at 175, not too hot, but warmed up! Theoretically if the engine is at 175, the oil should be warm too

Not necessarily. In my experience the oil pressure gauge stays pegged at 3 bar for a considerable while after the temp gauge shows operating temperature. This has been the experience with M100, M110 and M116 engined cars.

My 6.9 settles to 1.3 bar at idle (600 rpm) after a decent drive. (6.9 is actually an exception as it has a lot more oil and a separate oil reservoir for the dry sump).

In any case, anything above 0.5 bar at idle is fine.

You know SOMETIMES you can tell a lot about a car by its interior, how well it was maintained. Still yet, the guy who buys this machine should have a tech check it out. What I noticed as being somewhat weak was the detail job under the hood, note This guy has ser where fender screws are does not look like it was cleaned well. Look also where the hood closes on the drivers side. To much dirt there, but then if it only had a simple spray job I would have to conclude that the car really is nice at it appears. This guy has several other mercs also. I think they are all for sale.

Dam! Something about blocky, non-aerodynamic autos wearing RED paint has always been a strange lure for me

BTW, be sure to cruise the M-100 site BEFORE springing for a 6.3.

How I wish I could justify getting the RED one...

oh yeh...

Couple questions brought to the fore whilst slobbering over the RED 6.3.

I see a dimple on the front bumper trim right in the middle. I have seen this many times and mine has it, just shaped a bit differently. I assume this is evidence of a parking mishap and not some bizarre MB design feature?

Also, on bumpers... I see on the RED 6.3 on ebay that it has two bent spots under the rear bumper (just like mine). I assumed mine were from ham-fisted handling on a lift at some time in its 32 yrs of existence. Since the RED one has it too, whatsupwidat?? OR, is that the ding the seller says he is including a rear bumper to remedy? I thought I saw a ding on the RR overrider.

I know, I know, pretty inconsequential stuff

Well with that fine looker getting all the attention no one has anything to say about the "plane jane euro" that appears as clean as they come. No body dings that I can detect. Says "60,000 on engine remanufactured by mercedes". No sunroff and no driving lights and side reflectors. Wish he had posted more pictures of what appears to be a nice car. A plane jane 6.3?
