What do you lot think? I was going to go with 16" and 225/50/16 (I think thats the size) Michelins or Goodyears...

Any ideas?

bdrought, I want those in 16, 17 & 18 inch sizes. Can you help?

Those 2 piece AMG wheels are only available in the U.S. in 18 inch size and will only fit the SL roadster. You bloks (I hope that blok is not offensive, I'm a Yank) are truly lucky. You can get stuff we Yanks can not get.

Anybody one the board know how to get the 16 and 17 inch sizes from the U.K.?

I don't know, but I sure would like them
As for opinions in tire:
225/50/16 - you have the Dunlop D60 JLB which are pretty decent, for better handling and stability go with Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetircal, and for no compromise, Michelin Pilot Sport for max traction.

I have seen these wheels on a 1997 E420. It was extremely low, they had to slow down to get over the speed bumps (and still scraping). I blieve that the wheels were 18x10 in the back and 18x8 in the front. There was only about an inch between the tire and the fender. The only badging it had on it was ///AMG (like the E55) wierd> This car was cool!!!

They can be put on a W210.

Hey Subman, with time, money and effort anything can be "made" to fit and car. The AMG SL 2-piece in size 8.5X18 has a offset of 25mm. This offset plus the different sizes for the bolts and bolt holes (I believe) take two much tweaking of the cars suspension, fenders, brakes, etc for me. The car you mentioned probably has been completely modified and it is evident they have changed or ruined the ride & comfort quality of the car. I want to drive my car and not just look at it. I want the wheel in the 17 inch size.

I agree, bigger is not always better. I could squeeze 18" in on my 190E, but the best hanlding combos are in 16x7.5 with 225/45/16 over 215/40/17 and 17x7.5. Same with my ML430, I could go with 20x10 and drop 295/40/20 rubber, but the added weight would hurt performance and 18x10 with 285/50/18 would work and hanlde better. Some times people add bigger wheels because it looks flashier and they think the performance will be better. Unfortunately not always true.

Michelins are great, but do look at Toyos as they're a great deal
